This Red stands out in this beer style category. The malt body is as impressive as a bock, albeit in a uniquely Irish way. With an incredibly smooth malt body complimented by caramel tones and perfectly balanced in bitterness, this Irish Red is much more complex than it’s mainstream rivals.

Tap @Docker in Belgrade-Serbia. Dark copper with hidden amber highlights and a tick ivory foam. Nose: leather, horse, malty. Mouth: strong amber malt backbone with a straight forward happy bitterness. Nice indeed.

440ml can at home. Nitro pour, deep mahogany almost brown color with a large tan blanket of bubbles. Muted aroma of toast, caramel. Flavour is buttered toast, molasses, sugar, some small bit of onion.

Roasted cereals, hazelnuts and grain bark make up the dominant elements of the olfactory. A beige foam, thick, quite creamy and persistent, on a reddish-brown liquid with coppery reflections and strongly effervescent. The grain bark hits the palate first and perpetuates itself until the final, bringing an astringent and tenacious bitterness. Tones of walnuts, an exceptionally light caramel barely perceptible, leafy hops that are incorporated into an astringency and tenacious bitterness. The body is moderately light with a fairly mild effervescence. This beer may be an example of style, but its harsh side and its bitterness of grain bark royally displeases me. O’Hara’s Irish Red Traditional Ale 4.3% Reddish brown with a wispy tan head and a biscuity peppery aroma. Medium bodied with a slightly raspy carbonation. The taste is well balanced with peppery, mild toffee, hints of coffee beans and a balancing malt sweetness. Quite enjoyable.

Beer52 CyberFest 5. Creamy light brown head stayed on a reddish brown still body. Malt, ashtray & coal aroma. Medium bodied, short on the palate with a clean back. Rye, herbal, vegetal, berry & root beer tastes. Interesting.

Bottle from Brew Republic, Reading. Aroma is rich and malty with a sour berry streak. Opaque dark brown. Thin bubbly beige head. Initial sour berries, as per the aroma. Bitter core. Some underlying hints of chocolate. Gains a smokey bitterness as it progresses. Light-medium bodied. Slick if thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. For whatever reason this just hit the spot.
