Blend of cider & wine from red Cannonau di Sardegna grapes (the unique regional variant name for the Grenache grape variety) from Sardinia.

The organic grapes used for Boerenerf's blends are grown by Cantina Pusole.

The grapes go through a ten-day maceration, and the Pajotse cider from Peter's Orchards brings the necessary aroma and acidity.

This cider-wine hybrid is best enjoyed in the summertime. The distinct wine character blends well with the acidity of the cider, created an interesting crisp/bitter mouthfeel.

Fermented, aged & bottled on the farm.

Another typical 'hybrid' product by Boerenerf: cider (70%) blended with homemade Cannoneau wine (30%), Cannoneau being the local name used for Grenache Noir in Sardinia, where this grape variety likely originated (and not in Spain as has long been thought). Produces a medium thick, snow white, irregular foam quickly opening and eventually dissolving, over a hazy amber-coloured robe with 'rust brown' tinge. Aroma of a real funky natural wine (Brettanomyces), apple pulp, grape juice (unfermented and fermented), stale urine (that funk again), cooked raspberries, raw button mushrooms, dried rosemary, retsina, wet clay, the juice oozing from a medium rare horse steak, grass, rosewater, touch lavender and even something vaguely cookie- or biscuit-like faraway in the background. Obviously utterly fruity flavour, lots of red grape juiciness, some red apple juice but side impressions of red raspberries and ripe apricots as well; quite lively carbonation in a mild, small-bubbled kind of way, supple and lean body, of course quite vinous. Lots of juicy fruitiness continuing in the middle, sweet but not overly so and with a fruity-tart edge, the whole combining into high drinkability and fruity fraîcheur, with tannic wood and fruit seed notes adding something again vaguely biscuity or even nutty in the end. Herbaceous and juicy impressions of ripe blackcurrant, rosehip and blue plum join in the finish, mingled with these tannic fruit skin and seed effects and a yoghurty lactic dryness, a sourness present from beginning to end but - in my sample at least - nowhere becoming harshly acidic. My girlfriend loves wine and hugely enjoyed this cider-wine combo, an original and colourful one indeed.

Shortlived pink rim over beautiful, faintly veiled rosé... wine. Apples, grapes, lactic acid, very aromatic and fruity³, and horseblanket! Great nose! Dry - indeed a great blend of vinous and cidery flavours. Rosé wine, lactic acid, fruit-flavoured buttermilk, apples. Serious dry-out effect, lipsmacking acidity, ultra tart. Great!!
