Wild Fruited Saison

Kiviuq is named after a hero of Inuit mythology who had many adventures traveling the arctic. Jolly Pumpkin Kiviuq is a wild saison that takes you on a flavor adventure of tart & zesty flavors.

Aged in foeders for 9 months & matured on key lime & blackberry puree, Kiviuq has a deep magenta color & a fresh fruit aroma. Berry-packed with a mouthwatering, lemon-lime, citrus bite in the finish, it’s both refreshing & satisfying.

12oz can. Nice mixed culture flavor and tone, sour but lots of yeasty depth. The fruit tone here is rather mild, and like another rater noted, more gooseberry than anything else. Nice flavors still, but the body kind of ends abruptly. Unique, OK.

Musty, woody, lime, blackberry, biscuit malt, and dry hay aroma. Pale red with small head. Lightly sweet lime, blackberry, biscuit malt, moderately sour Brett/vinegar, and mildly bitter dry musty hay flavor. Good body. Very dry.

Can, small stable creamy head, cloudy pale red with orange taints, yeastiness, terpentine, feral notes, light spiciness, a bit of red fruits, lemon, piercing lactic sourness and a salty whiff. Excellent.

Can from Trader Joe's. Pours a murky, plum magenta color with a finger of off-white foam that dissipates. Aromas of lime, vinegar and tart citrus. Palate is similar with more lime and perhaps some blackberry. Kombucha-like carbonation with a lingering vinegar finish.

Super deep purple and viloet coloured body with a muddied deep purple coloured body and a thinnish, fairly fast-dying off-white head with some noticeable bubbles on the sides. Aroma of crisp berries, light hay and grassiness with a definite kick of floral, perfumey and pungent soured and tart yeastiness with a lot of funky notes from the yeast and grasses and a good, fairly noticeable complexity from the fruits as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong very funky dryness and grassy flavours show through with a lo tof the perfume and somehow even more from the blackberries, blackcurrants and raspberry fruit notes that bring out a great acidity here - as well as a lot of dryness, but the strongest here is probably the yeast profile which adds a lot of funky complexity, especially near the end. Aftertaste shows the great dry hay and grassy flavours, but the fruited notes even more with a superb blackberry and blueberry flavour and a lot of dry notes, but the crispness is the best here with a light dose of sugars, all seemingly from the fruit. Overall, a very nice beer with a great kick from fresh berries and fruit, but the yeast, dryness and light herbal aspects are the best here. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 30-December-2020 for US$3,79 sampled at my house here in Washington on 19-June-2021.

Really nice stuff. Love the JP house bretta yeast. Lime and crackery lambic type vibe. Blackberry more in the slight bitter touch there. Pinkish pour. Crackery sour finish but not too mouth puckering. A good offering here. Can.

16 oz can. Pours a lightly reddish amber with a white head. Tart grape, cherry aroma. Nicely tart grape/blackberry/cherry fruit flavor, a bit salty, with an oaky tartness. Pretty well done.
