Sometimes you’ve just got to take a look at your stockholding of hops, let your hair loose doing what you do best, and make an informed decision to go as tropical as possible. With a brief that read “Lying back on a lilo drinking an Atlantic Breeze”, we’ve gone for a full on tropical explosion with Hotspot Logic. Employing a superstar three way lineup of the freshest El Dorado, Simcoe and Mosaic we could get our hands on, this beer is positively bursting with a metric tonne of pineapple, stone fruit, watermelon, mango and just a hint of bubblegum sweetness to boot. Offset by a smaller than usual addition of both El Dorado and Mosaic in the whirlpool at 2 and 5kg respectively, this beer maintains a whisper of bitterness to keep everything in check and balanced.

440 ml can, as Polly's Hopspot Logic India Pale Ale, from Vinmonopolet Stavanger Hinna. ABV is 6.4%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pineapple, melon and various tropical fruits. Flavour of citrus and said fruits, also a distinct bitterness in the finish.

Can. bb ... tomorrow. Opaque orange with a 1/2 cm white head that lasts well. Aroma of oranges, mango, pineapple, chewed crackers, some feisty herbal/ grassy notes. Smoothly fruit juicy with mango and pineapple more prominent than citrus. Sweet with a grassy astringency trying to well up to make a finish but not quite getting there. OK.

Keg @ The Brewery Tap, Chester accompanying some potato wedges. Opaque hazed yellow complexion with a good pure white head. Smooth palate with creamy banana and pineapple forming much of the character, some further stonefruit nuances emerging in time. Moderately sweet. Nice.
