Stern-Bräu Festbier, Flasche per Post vom Landbierparadies. - Sehr dunkles, undurchsichtiges Kastanienbraun; üppiger dunkler Schaum. - In der Nase sattes, schweres dunkles Malz mit deutlicher aber nicht dominierender rauchiger Note, ein wenig geräucherte Makrele, Mokka, schwere Karamelsüße und leichte Zitrone. - Antrunk schwer und kernig dunkelmalzig mit intensiver Röstigkeit (angebrannte Brotkruste), Schwarzwälder Schinken und Espresso, nur dezenter Bonbonsüße und feiner zitrusfruchtige Hopfung. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Unerwartet leichter Abgang mit feiner herbaler Hopfenherbe und schwachen holzigen Noten. - Wuchtiges, malzschweres Rauchmärzen, das sich als schlichtes Festbier tarnt. Aus der Flasche schwerer und rauchiger als vom Faß (9.5.2018, vor Ort), wo mir nur eine ganz leichte Rauchnote aufgefallen war. (9.3.2021.)

Fresh bottle. Dark chestnut brown, lovely red shine, golden brown lacing cream. Nutty, light coffeeish roast and smoke aroma. Medium to full mellow dry body, coffee and dry caramel roast, pleasant herbal hops, chewy mouthfeel, woodsmoke retronasal. Very pleasant and quite drinkable.

Red amber color. Slight apple aroma. Medium bodied. Hopbitter, apricot flavor with some caramel. Bitter and fruity aftertaste. Re-rate: Just a hint of smoke in the background. Original review text: Enjoyed @ the brewery, in the presence of Herr Scheubel, the old brewer, himself. The brewer just calls it festbier. It is probaly a new recipe, instead of the ’old’ festbier. Amber color. Malty aroma with cookie dough and the slightest hint of smoke. Fat smoked sausage flavor, malty, softly smoked with hints of tobacco, lingering on in the aftertaste. Indeed comparable with some other rauchbeers brewed in the Franconian countryside. Good!!

Tap @ Brewery. May 22, 2019. Sold as “Festbier Dunkel”. Pours deep amber with a creamy White head. Nutty and smokey. Dark malts and a whiff of bamberg smoke. Chewy. Smooth and soft. Rye-bread. Quite awesome! At 10 in the morning. More please!

Bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit einer ordentlichen weißen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, leicht rauchig. Geschmack sehr malzig, etwas Karamell, würzig, rauchig.

Rating from 2009. Schöne hellbraune Farbe mit leicht beigem Schaum. Der Antrunk ist angenehm herb-malzig, schön vollmundig-trocken. Zum Hauptteil wird die herb-malzige Note deutlicher, leicht säuerlich und sehr süffig. Der Nachgeschmack ist herb-malzig-trocken. Ganz leicht süße spürbar. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine angenehm malzig-herbe, angenehme Note, die sich lange hält! Leckeres, herb-trockenes Dunkel! 14/13/14/14

Bottle 500ml. @ home on the terrace.Clear medium orange amber colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, toasted, caramel, malty. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, spicy ! light plastic - smoke notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Herb-süßer Antrunk mit leichter Rauchnote, die mit der Zeit süßer und etwas stärker wird. Angenehme Intensität des Rauches, der Hintergrund ist aber zu mild. Trocken, wenig herb und gerstig, sehr süffig. Im Abgang allgemein milder, etwa schokoladig. 9/9/10/10//10
