Bottle Clear to hazy brown/amber body. Off-white, small creamy head. Good lace. Aroma of cane sugar, liquorice, pear, apple, bit raspberry, flowers, yeast, malts, ... Although there’s a lot in the aroma, it’s not that complex. Ok balance. Heavily bitter, lightly sour initial flavour. Heavily bitter finish (bit powdery). All of the bitterness is hoppy bitterness. The bitterness in the finish is quite aggressive, like a canon that explodes its bitterness in the finish.

From bottle at Alvinne. Pours dark brown/redish. Light fruity and caramel malty aroma. Light roasted and light spiced aroma. Light fruity and malty flavour into the finish. Nice straight forward yet tasty brew. Sadly the tasting room at Alvinne was way to cold, this influenced the beers served quite heavily. Still nice and enjoyable, but too cold to find any finer details in aroma and flavour.

Bottle at Brugs Beertje. Deep brown with thick lasting beige head. Heavy brown malt, bit vinous. Some choc. Prickly on end. Good mix of choc malt and vinous fruit notes, plummy. Nice.

Bottle, 6.5%. Weak asparagus/malt aroma. Cloudy light brown colour. Small light brown head. OK malty flavour with a slight sourness. Warming/burning aftertaste. Not my kind of Belgian.

Hazy brown color; creamy head. Aroma of candi sugar with some yeast fruitness, simple. Too much carbonation (I think it starts getting over the top), which brings also an additional light sour note; some malt and caramel, nothing special. As I said, it’s probably lightly spoiled, anyway not a giant beer.

Bottled, alc. 6.5% (vintage 2003)
Dark ruby brown/red, good creamy tanned head. Woody, licorice aroma with some spices, which I can only descrbe as "inner rubber of bycycle wheel". Soft palate, licorice flavours, oaky notes, long bitter aftertaste.

(Bottle 33 cl) I don’t know what the term "pico" means, but it sounds small. At the listed address, there wasn’t any sign, that this was a brewery. Maybe beacuse the beer is brewed at the De Graal in Bakkel. But we found this at a local beer-store. Beautiful red-brown color. The beer is filtered, but not pasteurized with quite a lot of yeast sediments. Very spicy with 6 different malts and 3 hops. Light brown head and good lacing. Quite typical dark ale, but with a rather sophisticated aromatic character. 050804
