A Belgian tripel: top-fermented, blond and spicy beer that was refermented in the bottle. The alcohol content is 8%(ABV). A very popular beer style in the many brown pubs in Belgium! It seemed logical to us that Tjolders Brewery would start with a Tripel as first beer.

The Tjolder Tripel is by its citrus aromas and slightly bitter touch a unique tripel! Firm body with slightly hoppy emphasis in the flavor. The creamy texture is soft on the tongue but can provide a slightly cloudy appearance. Unfiltered... because cloudy in the glass, is clear in the mind!

Clear orangey-golden beer, lifeless. "Beery" nose, malts, partly toasted, but also spicy (hops), even ginger. Sweetish, rosewater, rainwater, amandine. Finishes almost sugary. Quite slick, medium bodied, undercarbonated. Seriously, guys? A tripel that is oversweet? "Tripel" - as far as it's a style - means very attenuated. This isn't anything such.

17 June 2023. At Foyer De Scène, Tielt. Cheers to baby Oscar!

A: hazy golden, small, off-white head; some sediment.
A: potato juice, vodka, wet grain, soggy bread.
T: sweetish apple peel, bread, grain, yeast.
F: grassy & floral hops, yeast, pale malt, warming vodka-like alcohol.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Seriously lacking in fresh- & fruitiness.

Pours unclear blonde, medium white head is stable. Scent is sharp, fresh grainy, green (continental) hops. Spicy character, reminding of saison yeast rather than a tripel. No clear banana. Taste is sharp, dry, bitter, dry, saison-style yeast. Not at all a tripel - this is named seriously wrong - but I do like it more than a generic tripel, so if anything, taste-wise i'm pleasantly surprised. Medium high carbo. Medium body. More than decent beer, but 100 % misnamed on style.
