22 August 2023. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Shared with the lovely Anke!
A: hazy golden, small, off-white head.
A: overripe mango, orange, sweat, vague 'putje'.
T: sweet mango, tangerine peel, biscuit, spicy onion.
F: grassy & peppery hops, onion and bitter citrus peel.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Bit off, it seems, but happy to try again.

New West Coast style IPA by Dok, sampled at their Welkom pub in Oudburg (Patershol quarter, Ghent). Snow white, frothy, membrane-like lacing, stable and closed head, misty apricot-golden blonde robe. Aroma of stewing sweet shallots, orange zest, green mango, toasted garlic, bread crust, bitter honey, ‘dank’ armpit sweat accent, wormwood, green olives. Sweetish onset, hoppy-fruity in a clean, sleek, restrained way, green mango, Cape gooseberry, touch pomelo, sharpish fizzy carbonation (strong minerally effect) through an oily body, with a firm core of sweetish-bread-crusty and lightly biscuity malts under growing, lightly tropical-edged (mango again), bit dank (sweaty) and citrusy (mandarin) hoppiness with side aromas of lychee and pink peppercorns. Medium long peppery bitterness lingers – again a typical post-NEIPA West Coast, a compromise IPA one could say, with still enough sweetness, tropicalness and haziness not to scare away the young haze boys, but also carrying enough bitterness, spiciness and sleekness to evoke a credible West Coast association. Not pure West Coast for me, but a delicious IPA and to me one of the best Dok has produced in the past year.

20/VII/23 - on tap, shared @ DOK Brewing Company, BB: n/a (2023-441)
Clear orange blond beer, creamy dense off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lovely, tropical fruits overload, lots of manga, papaya, some passion fruits, juicy, very nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, very fruity, juicy, mango and papaya, peach flavoured candy, pretty bitter, a little malty, lemon. Aftertaste: ripe to overripe melons, very bitter, a bit sourish, hoppy, melon rinds. Not such a pleasant finish.
