Strange ’tonic beer’ with ginseng; cream white, thick, rocky, stable head, brownish amber colour, hazy. Complexely perfumed aroma, caramel, toast, peanuts, bitterish ginseng, chicory, aniseed, mint, apricot; soft sweetish onset, honeyish and caramelly background, fresh citrus, fuller in the middle, drier, spicy and ethereal finish with chicory-like bitterness which I suppose represents the ginseng again, a bit vermouth-like and oily, supported with floral hops and warming alcohol. Commissioned by the guys depicted on the label, formerly at Vervifontaine, so it has been around for quite some time. One of those weird, hard to classify Belgian ales.

Nett! Hazy amber color. Mild aroma and flavor, with some caramel taste, light sweetness. In the end actually there is a touch of ginseng. Drinkable.

Bottle: Orange hazy amber with a thick bubbly white head. Very sweet orange and spice aroma. Taste is metal and mild acid flavor, not like the aroma.

A nazy dirty amber ale with a thick creamy white head. Sweet malty ginger aroma. In mouth, a sweet candy malt with notes of ginger, coriander, orange peels...no ginseng here! Better than the blonde, but ho-hum belgian beer. Bieropholie import, BB 7-7-07

Bottled. Cloudy dark amber. Papery nose. Sweet with notes of ginger jam. Fruity with rounded mouthfeel, rather solid malty mouthfeel. Some caramel, restrained yeasty flavours and careful medicinal ginger notes. No bitterness.
