Imperial Red Ale

Red ale is one of the two classic Irish beer styles, the other being dry stout. This brilliant, copper-colored interpretation, the Weyermann® Red Empress, with its brown-hued crown of foam, delivers the aromas and flavors the visual impression promises. There are plenty of earthy and typically Irish notes of red berries, smooth caramel, and nutty bread crust. Both sweet malt and bitter hop aromas are in harmonious balance as soft, rum-like undertones of barrique and warming alcohol transition into a mildly crisp and smooth finish.

Bottle picked up from Probier, Landshut and consumed sat in Frank Thursday 27th November 2025 after a visit to Landshut Christkindlmarkt, yesterday I went to the Augsburg one. Pours reddish brown it's a lively pour, off white head. Fruity with a little twang, bitterness is also there, pleasant beer.

0.33 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, best before December 2025. Hazy, deep red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity-resiny aroma of orange jam, red fruits, tobacco and light pine. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and a bit resiny taste of caramel, red fruits, tobacco and some pine, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry and a little yeasty finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent Red Ale.

Bottle from the fan shop in Bamberg and drunk with Nelson. Hazy red brown colour. Lasting beige head. Aroma of amber and red malts. Flavour the same. Amber malts. A little spicy. Spicy finish. So some spicy hops maybe. Pretty drinkable. Good malts throughout. Solid.

Optisch Kupfer, behäbige Perlung, in der Nase schön Karamell. Im Trunk setzt sich das fort, bittersüß, sehr würzig, lecker.

Clear dark copper colour with lasting head. Aroma has lots of toasted malts. Initial taste is sweet, even with a red fruit jam note. Finish is more rounded and bitter. Again toasted malts. Well balanced and easy to drink.
