A slight tartness, with a pithy spiciness, that characterizes the old Franconian style of this beer with its unique character.

On tap at Wirtshaus Hütt'n, pours a clear copper amber with a small white head. Aroma has some herbaceous notes, light vegetal notes, toasted nuts, and bready caramel. Flavour is clean enough, with toasted bread, light caramel, and a herbaceous character. A little too herbaceous for the style but pleasant enough.

50 cl bottle. Outdoors party. A random guy gave the bottle(unopened) to friends of mine. Divided by 3 and straight from the bottle.

Tap at Fränkisches Bierfest. Copper, clear. Roasted. Taste is a bit too soft, could use more crunch. Drinkable, though.

Ellertaler Landbier altfränkisch, Flasche vom Landbierparadies. - Kupfergoldbraun, klar; sahniger Schaum.

Hint of coffee and grapes. Clean, but unremarkable. Low in flavor and aroma, especially a dunkel. Some would call it subtle, I guess. Slight bitter aftertaste.
