Bottle, brewed by Grain d’Orge, Hombourg. Orange blonde color, slightly hazy. Mandarin and a touch of yeast in the aroma. Mandarin flavor, slightly vinous, apple. Touches of dust. Slightly alcoholic. Nothing special.

’Old’ Wallonian apple beer celebrating the apple growing culture in the region of Aubel; taken over from the Brasserie d’Aubel when it closed down. Cream white, mousse-like, lacing foam, colour deep orange blonde, nearing amber, clear with only tiny yeast flakes but fully cloudy after adding the deposit. Sweet apply aroma, candi sugar, pineapple, almond, bread, vanilla, dried apricots but also rotting eggs because of infection; taste begins sweet and caramelly, apply but not overtly so, strong carbonation, finish mildly hoppy without ever becoming really bitter, also a bit of warming alcohol. Not that well-made, although the use of apple has fortunately been kept limited and remains subtle enough.

33cl Dorée avec qcq sédiments, col blanc léger. Arôme de levure, le tout est fruité allant vers orange et citron suivi de qcq épices. En bouche, le palais rappelle la version de Grain d’Orge de Bérangère pour ce profile levure/fruité proche de l’orange. Sur la fin une épice pouvant suggérer la cardamone/muscade ou girofle. Profile malt reste agréable vers le cara, fini reste fruité.

(bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with a big and blond but collapsing frothy head. Sweet and flowery yeasty aroma with notes of citrus, honey and alcohol. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft, even a bit flat carbonation. Pale malty, citrus-fruity and slightly zesty taste with shy spicy notes; moderately sweet and fruity finish with notes light notes of alcohol and spices. Undemanding Belgian Ale. 30.XI.09

Bottle 33cl @ [ Tasting in Ulfborg ].Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate hoppy, lime, moderate yeasty, coriander. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter (citrus shell) with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (110708)

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy to cloudy yellow with a diminishing white head. Medium dry brett-ish aroma with a mild fruity note beneath. Smooth yeasty, light wheaty and lightly spiced base flavour. Holds a light lingering brett dryness into the finish. Ends slight woody and dry.

Bottled. Hazy yellowish golden colour, with mediumsized white head. Aroma is lots of spices, herbs and fruits in a quite nice mix. Flavour is quite fruity and flowery hops along with some really bready hints. The breadiness vanishes towards the finish and leaves just fruityness and sweet nectaryness for the finish. Some mild yeastyness is lurking in the background. No real aftertaste in this one.

Bottle, 6.5%. Vinous, dried fruit aroma. Golden colour with very tiny floaties and a stable white head. The flavour is nicely fruity and malty. Good alcohol level and a little breadiness to balance. Hint of yeast in the finish. Very nice.

Orange-golden beer, with a lot of small greyish UFO’s, veiled; with a fast dwindling white head. Very nice fresh herb nose (cilantro, chervil,...) going over in a short honeyish malt, later also lemon or lemonbalm. Fine and delicate, but a bit shy. Traces of white candi sugar. Wry, bitterish taste with chalk, wood & solvent. Weird bitterish flavour, part bitter almonds, part (ply)wood. Everything points at high attenuation; very slight astringency. Not a bad beer, but something in the taste is plain wrong. Pleasing nose, anyway.

Murky golden amber with a light white head. Several particles floating throught. Sour spicy citrus aroma, led directly into the sour spicy ditrus flavor. Tangy aftertaste!
