Just in time! Clear, deep golden color and a nice white head. Aromatic nose, sweet and decent earthy. Intense taste, malty, faint yeasty, sweet, hoppy.

0,33 l Steinie bottle. Clear dark golden in the glass, big nearly two finger foamy head. Grainy smell. Taste starts grainy malty, little bit increasing fruity. Low but present alcoholic. Inconspicuous but okay.

Bottle. Clear dark gold with a small white head. Aroma of mild malts, grains, floral hops and just a hint of honey. Taste follows aroma plus some industrial metal. Neither sweet nor bitter but also not balanced. Medium to strong carbonation. Just a poor version of a Maibock. Considering it's from Herforder I'm not that surprised.

Slightly malty butterscotch aroma. Sweet and buttery flavor. Just a bit of alcohol, because the beer is rather thin. Clean but unconvincing. I was a bit too harsh in my opinion a few years ago. Re-rate march 2010, 2010 version. Golden color. Malty cookie dough aroma and flavor. Somewhat alcoholic with a sticky mouthfeel. Hopflashes in the finish.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Henschen', best before August 2019. Clear, golden amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, moderately floral and a bit grassy-spicy aroma of caramel, vanilla, grains and some straw. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly grassy-spicy and a bit floral taste of caramel, honey, vanilla, some grains and a touch of straw, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently grassy-spicy and a bit metallic finish. Medium to full body, smooth, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid Maibock, quite clean and pleasant to drink, cannot diguise its industrial origin, of course.

“Herforder Maibock“, Flasche (33 cl) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin-Wedding. - Kupfergold, klar. - In der Nase breites, matt karamelsüßliches Malz aber nur ganz schwache Hopfenherbe; schwache seifige Note. Antrunk breit aber etwas muffig karamelmalzig-süßlich. Der Zuckerwassersüße tritt nur matte, leicht ranzige Hopfenherbe entgegen. Für einen Bock recht leicht. Matt holzig-herber Abgang. - Äußerst schwache Brühe, mit einem süddeutschen Maibock gar nicht zu vergleichen. Mit der “westfälischen Braukunst“ ist es nicht weit her ...
