Double IPA Brewed with White Grape Skins
For this year’s anniversary beer, we found inspiration in the southern hemisphere. This double IPA is brewed with Peacharine and Riwaka hops, along with a special ingredient called Phantasm – an extract from sauvignon blanc grape skins – all sourced from New Zealand. Combined with some good old fashioned Mosaic hops from the US and an amped up grain bill and we’ve got ourselves a unique sensory experience full of dankness and tropical citrusy notes. Coming in at a smooth 9.6% in honor of the year we started: 1996.

Delt med K-O i solveggen på Bergstua. Mørk stråfarget. Uklar. Partikler i glasset. Høyt kremaktig skum som daler sakte. Litt filigranser. Lett sitrusaroma. Smaken syrlig tørket frukt. Balansert. Lett bitter avslutning. Utmerket DIPA

355 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9.6%. Hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus, over-ripe melon and some pine. Flavour of oranges, pine needles, resin and alcohol, a certain hop burn.

Starker, mild süßer Hopfenbeginn. Trocken, alkoholische Tendenzen sind definitiv vorhanden, spritzig, etwas Honig. Leicht grasig, dann zunehmend alkoholisch, trocken, kräftig. Langer, cremig hopfiger Abgang, nett. 10/9/10/9/8/9

Can, $1 off clearance rack. Viscous heavy hazy orangish pale pour. Big pine tree needles aroma. First big swig is volatile bitter hops that coat and destroy my taste buds. Whew, its so syrupy with bitter hops, comes across as a ball busting bastard. Mow me over, rover. Strong strange sacrilegious shifty sardonic and scary. What a triple slap in the face. A medical blast that harkens the rapidly rancid regretful mouthful. I'm surprised I could get this alky bomb for a buck, whew. Good tick, but would never spring for it unless I didn't taste it before. Its just too much of an adult drink for this lager lover to handle.

Transferring review from paper from sometime over the past 8 months. Bottle. Orange with floaties, small but lasting head. Nose is lemon, orange, sweat. Lemongrass, grapefruit, resin, pine flavor.

(Can, 0.355l - canned on 26.09.2023, from Alko, 20240419) The beer poured pale amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had citrus fruits, tangerine, lemonade and mildly malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were ripe fruits, lemonade, citrus fruits, tart fruits, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. A tasty hoppy brew with strong citrus notes.

Trübe goldene Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Grasig hopfiger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich grasig hopfig, fruchtig mit Pfirsich und Grapefruit, leicht malzig. Mittlere Süße mit hoher Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
