Just an off-white rim over almost black beer with flashes of granat highlights. Red wine, liqueur, shoepolish, syrup from red/purple berries, vanilla, crème Anglaise. Fuselalcohols. Fiery MF, burning, liquorice, again shoepolish, again (natural) berrysyrup. Liquorice increases in time. Alcohol, fusels. Very well bodied, not very carbonated, chewy, alcoholburn. A dangerous one - typical Nøgne Ø.

Bottle. A mostly still, unclear, black to dark brown beer. Sort of oily, with just a few bubbles rising to the surface. The aroma is intense and delicious, vinous, with alcohol, wood, dark berries, prune, dark chocolate, licorice and some dark rye bread crust. Some spiced, leathery hints too, and as it warms up the chocolate has company of some dark toffee. The initial licorice touch tends towards molasses as the temperature raises above cellar temperature. It's full-bodied, warming, softly but still a bit heavily carbonated and rich in tannins. The flavor is as intense and rich as the flavor, a bit too alcoholic perhaps, but still delicious. Wood, dark berries, prune, dried figs, molasses hints, some toffee, dark chocolate and dark bread, as well as a touch of red wine and a peppery spicyness. Everlasting finish with lots of yummi. Overall, a delicious beer indeed, a wonderful melange of aromas and flavors, but I find it a bit alcoholic, and the carbonation is a bit strange. Not my favorite Quad from Nøgne Ø, but sure a fine brew. 231023

Sample@CBH2023. Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is floral, dried fruity, some spices and mild toffee tones with a wee bit of alcohol to it. Flavour is spicy, dried fruits, some toffee, alcohol and mild wooden elements. Alcohol stays for quite a while in the finish and aftertaste.
