This limited version of Necessary Evil has been aged in Pedro Ximénez barrels for 8 months. The classic sweet flavours of raisins and dates from the sherry provide an extra layer of intricacy to this award- winning beer. Best served around 10-12°C, so take out of the fridge for a while before serving. Whilst this beer will age well, there is no time like the present, so we recommend opening and enjoying it as soon as possible.

Bottle, smallish head, very dark brown colour, nuts, oxidised notes,vanila, raisins, burned notes, molasses, candy, sweet spices, quite sweet with a very light bitterness to balance. Highly enjoyable and not very stouty.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Thornbridge online. Pours black-brown with a dense, creamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of rich dark mats, dried dark fruits, raisins, wood, earth, roast, cocoa, torched toffee. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth to finish, thick dark malts, aged dark fruits, bittersweet cocoa. Great depth and highly drinkable. Super.

A black beer, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has liquorice, dried fruits, dates, hint of over riped fruits. Taste has liquorice, sweetness of malts, dried fruits, some alcohol. Full bodied. Pretty nice.

Sample (thanks omhper).Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is really sweet chocolate, alcohol and some dried plummy and figgy tones. Flavour is chocolaty and some plum with alcohol and some figs and mild spicy tones to it. Bottle (from Alko web). Black colour, small off-white head.
