Malted barley is a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We use three different varieties to create the deep colour and smooth nuttiness; each grain is milled right here in our brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness.
Then we balance this rich brew with just the right amount of Challenger and Fugle hops.
Hops: Challenger, Fuggle, Pioneer
Malts: Pale Ale, Crystal, Roast

amber pour with a lingering off white head. Toasted caramel malt aroma. I get a hint of smoke. The flavor is of rich toasted caramel malt with mild herbal hops to balance it. I’m pretty sure smoked malt isn’t involved here but I get a little smoky character regardless. It’s good.

50cl bottle at Stirling Court Hotel, Stirling, UK. Pours dark red, beautiful, with very fine cream foam. Aroma is malty, caramel, earthy. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium sweet, but with an average final.

Mahogany brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour are predominantly of sweet malts. Has a bit of a shandy feel to it. A bit too sweet but overall.

500ml bottle drunk at home as part of a delivery from the brewery. Brownish red and clear with a small ring of off-white head. Light malty aroma, note of toffee and berries. Sweet taste, very malt-forward, with a light medicinal quality in the finish. Very watery body, medium to heavy carbonation. Sorry for the dull review, but it's a dull beer.
