Malted barley is a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We use three different varieties to create the deep colour and smooth nuttiness; each grain is milled right here in our brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness.

Then we balance this rich brew with just the right amount of Challenger and Fugle hops.

Hops: Challenger, Fuggle, Pioneer
Malts: Pale Ale, Crystal, Roast

Bottle at YNWA, Kolding. Pours a nice clear, reddish copper body with a lovely beige head. Bready nose with caramel and a touch of hops. Sure on the malty side in the flavor too, wouldn’t expect anything else either, with caramel, a little roasted maltyness and a fruityness in the background. Medium to full body. A pleasant, malty, easy drinkable beer that would be well suited for a session, but maybe even better with a stew or something. Rating: 5-4-6-4-11-3. 080229

Bottle. It’s a clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Some sourish notes in the aroma, toffee dominating. Caramel and fruits in the mouth, some bitterness towards the end. Medium body. A rather boring beer, but very drinkable. 091016.

Bottled (BB 10/2009)
Dark ruby color, good creamy beige head, lace. Light licorice, nutty hoppy aroma with hints of caramel, earth and peat. Smokey, peat flavor with light hoppyness. Unfortunately aftertaste is lame, watery. Interesting, but not very robust beer. It would be interesting to have this brew with 5%+ ABV.

Bottle (purchased at the brewery): In fact reddish-amber coloured, smaller lacing persistent off-white head, dark-malty and fruity (raspberries?) nose with a discreet hoppiness in the wings; moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, light bodied, malty-fruity finish with a balancing bitterness. Good..........

Bottled (thanks GarethYoung!). Dark brownish amber colour with nice beige head, lacing. Aroma is nuts, fruity and flowery hops, with slightly roasted malts being there all the time. Flavour is nuts, roasted malts and fruits. Pleasant bitterness, as it is very smooth. Finish and aftertaste is flowery hops along with roasted malts.
