The 6th and final Lager/Pilsner on 15th Sep 2014 during a tasting session with my son. This was the best of a pretty poor bunch! half litre bottle: BBD 2nd Mar 2015. Good looking brew, golden, clean and bright with a full white crown: just like a Pilsner should appear like. The nose was thin, like most in this style, there was a hint of hop bitterness but nothing much. The taste was a crisp hop bitter flavour and very little malt sweetness compared to the other brews we shared during the evening. A good solid Pilsner although it only stood out because the others were so sweet and bland.

Can from Petit Marché in Imazato. Shared at my Summer Plunder Tasting as a palate cleanser. It pours a crystal clear gold with a foamy white head & a sweet sugary light malt aroma. Medium bodied with a round mouthfeel. The taste is sugary sweet light malts and a sharp mildly bitter finish. OK, it served it’s purpose and for 100 yen for a pint I felt satisfied.

16 oz pils glass draft at Gralehaus in Louisville, Kentucky (technically in the garden between Gralehaus and Holy Grale). The pour is a clear golden with a one inch pure white head. Great retention on the head. The aroma is cracker malt along with a bit of mineral and earth. The taste is fresh and crisp, nice malt character along with grass and mineral in the finish. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation, unfiltered mouth feel and a bit of sweet in the finish. Clean and tasty Pils.
