Unusual name, unusual beer. The Waggle Dance is a movement a bee performs to alert the hive of a source of nectar.
Waggle Dance is brewed with a touch of honey which gives it a taste of summer no matter when you raise a glass. This is balanced by a healthy does of hops to provide the bitterness that gives a wonderfully delictae flavour. The overall result is beautifully balanced and sneakily seductive.
Pale ale and crystal malt, Fuggle and Golding hops together with South American honey create this delicious golden ale with a superb honey aroma.
Note - originally a Vaux beer, acquired by Young’s in 1999. Rebranded from Young’s Waggledance to Wells Waggle Dance in 2008 (separately listed).
In late 2025, the brief, 24-pub anniversary comeback managed by the Young's pub estate, the head brewer at Bristol's King Street Brewhouse rebrewed the historic cask recipe. They infused it with raw Kennington honey, presenting it purely as a 4.0% ABV fresh golden session ale.

Bottled (thanks chris_o). Hazy orangeish amber colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is some skunkier hops with some pleasant fruity hints. Flavour is malty, hoppy with bitteralmondy and nutty hints. Slight sweetness pops up in the finish. No big winner, but still drinkable.

A bit hazy orange, amber color, small white head, some lace. Nutty/woody hoppy aroma. Light palate, in the start crisp mouthfeel, some honey notes and pale malty flavours. Nutty hoppyness.

500ml bottle (bb.30.09.07) at The Lamb, Bloomsbury. White foamy head reduced to a thin layer over an amber coloured body. Good laceworks. Light hoppy aroma. Some taste of honey, citrus and a dash of malt. Dry ending. Rather anonymous (31.01.2007).

Bottle, Golden in colour with a fluffy white head (poured a bit erratically). Sweet honey aroma some malts in background, as you would expect honey dominates the taste but there are some hops providing some bitterness, this is a decent enough beer.

Poured a honey colored gold from the bottle with almost no white head. Has a strange aroma, you can definitely smell the honey and extra sugar but there’s also something less appetizing hiding in the aroma. The initial flavor is sweet, obviously, and the sugar overwhelsms any malt, grain or hop. Whoa, the honey hits the back of your palate at the very finish and tastes like it just came out of the jar. Too simple and sweet to have more than one.

Bottle. Golden amber with a soft white head. Faint aroma of honey, refreshing on the palate with a balance of sweetness from the honey and bitterness from the hops. Not as honeyed as Fullers Honey Dew, but more refreshing.
