Bottle. Clear light to medium brown color with a average , frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, spruce, anise. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Medium yellowish beige lasting head. Hazy deep brown body. Sugary salmiak licorice aroma. Dryish-sweetish peppery salmiak licorice taste, clean and a bit one-dimensional, with fruity notes. Very distinct and clear licorice taste. Also some ginger and cinnamon. Dry peppery finish with notes of caramel. Pleasant, easy-drinking. Grew on me as I drank, and the spices gradually became more prominent. (0.3l draft at Lord Nelson, Copehagen, through a mistake by the waitress. Had rated it before, but prefer the new rating.)

500 ml bottle. Clear reddish body with a beige head. Strong ginger spicy aroma. Flavor is sweet, spicy and quite harmonic from a ginger loving view. Not exactly a Belgium abbey beer, more in the neighborhood of Scottish Heather Ale. I like it a lot anyway as standalone ale.

Bottled. Dark amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is anis, malts, and caramel. Some slight smokeih notes also. Flavour is anis, caramel, malts and a lot of spices. The aftertaste is mainly spicy only.

swing top bottle (500ml). –Mahogany coloured, small beige head, candy herbal nose which is very similar to Cerna Hora Black Hill. Malty and herbal aroma with notes of coriander and other spices with mint bonbon hints. Odd but nice brew.

Lovely 0.5l bottle (6/12) courtesy of Papsoe (thanks!), shared with ozujsko. Poured a nice cola style colour, with a small beige head. The nose is lovely and really pleasant...agrumes, bonbons, herbs.... The taste is pleasant, but way too light for the strength, quite herbal again (couldn’t define it better, according to my notes). Far from flashy and I expected more from the nose. Ah, well. One of the best beers Papsoe got me.

Bottle brought by my dad all the way from Denmark. Love the bottle itself. Pours brown with orange tints into a La Fin Du Monde tulip glass. Small head that turns into a present lacing. Aroma is very present - its malt driven. Almost a scotch ale like aroma. Lots of sweetness with a sour aspect. Lots of nutmeg and spicy sweet aroma. Taste come out to bland for such an aroma. A bit thin on the mouthfeel. I taste the same malty sweet sourness but to watered down. Finish is empty, no real presence.

Bottled, 0.5ltr swing-top. Amber in color, with a nice beige head. Spicey beer, with some alcohol, sweet malt, dried fruits and ginger and cardamom. Flavor is sweet, with some bitter orange-notes. Prickling, sweet mouthfeel, with a long bitter finish. A nice beer. (060513)
