Bottle at home from Sterk. Pours black with a tan head that lasts long. Nose is herbal, citric, slightly fruity hops on top of chocolate for days. Taste is nicely balanced between sweetness and bitterness, leaning towards the latter. It shows cacao beans, citrus zest, light earthy notes, I wanna say coconut but it’s just Sabro notes for me, some wood in there too. Closes with a dry, cocoa and zesty finish, it’s got a light to medium body, got a soft carbonation, it drinks below the ABV all in all. Lovely.

Opaque dark black brown beer, good tan head. Smooth airy palate, slightly soft, decent fine carbonation. Fluffy dark malts with that Kernel IDP characteristic mix of dark malt cream, a little dark chocolate and smooth but rich cappuccino. Touch of dark chocolate Malteasers in there. Some juicy hop goodness, smooth pine and a medium hop spice. Decent hop fruits but very much a secondary feature to the malts. A late emerging candy fruit vibe and just a modest Sabro coconut. Finishes smooth with all the flavours coming together. Layered and rich. Yeah, this is consistently Kernel's best beer style these days.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours oily black with a thin tan head. Aromas of toffee, coffee, burnt orange. Taste is more of the same, light coconut hints too. Roasty bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours black. Raspberry, coconut, roast, orange, grapefruit, coffee. Medium body. Veering strongly into black IPA territory and a good one at that. Excellent.

Keg at St Albans Beer Shop, St Albans, Herts. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Rich, roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, taste & aroma. Quite bitter but pretty decent.
