This traditional lager, representing a historic style rarely seen outside of Bamberg Germany, pours a light amber color with an off-white head. Bready malt notes dominate, with a lingering hop bitterness on the finish. Light honeysuckle, toasted brown bread and hazelnuts give way to a light but present floral hop character.

16oz can pours a clear, burnt orange brown with some lacey head. Nose is really nice, grist, brown bread, some caramel or even carob, roasted almonds. Flavor is nutty and bready, sweet with a brown sugar lick. Almost something herbal on the end, like a cooling menthol without being medicinal. Threads a needle. Really easy to drink. Goes with everything.

Can at home. Have t had a new schilling in awhile. Ruby brown and frothy head. Nose is malty and dark fruits. Tastes of dark breads, fig, plum, malt, hint of sasparilla. Chewy palate but light bodied. Enjoyable

Brewery draught, 3/1/24. Clear, medium-amber. Small, beige head, quickly to spotty cover. Mineral, light toast, light red fruits. Clean, crisp yeast on the finish. Really healthy base maltiness. Rich base malt with just a touch of toast and caramel. Honey dries out through light fruit ending on crisp yeast, lightly bitter, herbal hops and baked bread. Clean, crisp, malty, dry. I don't know how you give a beer like this less than 4.0. baffling.

Pours dark copper into a stein. Tan head with little retention recedes to nothing. Nutty brown bread aromas. Medium bodied with sweet dried apricot, hazlenuts, and toasted raisin brownbread upfront turning to earthy toasted pumpernickel in the dry, lasting finish.
