On tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear deep brown with an amber hue and an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a nice combination of roast and dark bread with a bit of earthiness underlying. Flavor has earthy dark grains and a growing roast and dark bread supporting.

4 oz draft. Toasted brown bread, lager yeast, with a earthy finish. Body is a bit flimsy but decent enough.

Draught @ Covenhoven, Brooklyn (4/4/23). Dark brown with ruby red highlights, large spongy tan head, roasted malt aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter roasted malt taste, faintly astringent, thin body, long finish. Tasty but watery.

Can at home. Beautiful looking beer. Quite dark and puffy head, very inviting. Nose is licorice and chocolate and ash. Tastes of ashy campfire, licorice, caramel, pine bark, and malt. Slicker palate without the bite I thought of. Almost swarzbier like.

Tip Tap draught, 4/8/23. Undeterminable clarity. Black. Dark beige head is medium, shows moderate to strong retention. Chocolate, cookies, light cola and licorice. Not much in the snappy hop or yeast category. Light minerality though and the malt smells clean and aromatic if maybe a bit sweet. Light, malty, chocolatey with moderate roast and sourdough. Good attenuation, maybe could use a touch more, though. And a little less dark/specialty malt. It's quite roasty and licoricey, to the point of dominating base malt, yeast and mostly non existent hops. Clean, though.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention pancakes and recedes leaving gloppy spiders. Dusty cocoa and dark pit fruit aromas. Dry and soft with prune and date upfront turning to cocoa dusted caramel and mocha in the medium length finish.
