On tap at the brewery. Pours gold. Bright tartness, lemon, nutty, little butter, vanilla, white grape. Medium body. Good.

Draught at Tip Tap, 3/11/23. Lightly hazy, apricot-wax-maize. Small, off-white head, low retention. Definitely some savory, lightly oxidized marsala in the nose with strong house culture including a bit of acetic character, though it's not dominant. Fruity brett and biscuity malts with structured tannin and no alcohol. Soft, lightly succulent grape with strong tannin, plentiful vanilla and strong biscuity malt backbone. Some light oxidation, light acetic character, but it adds character instead of dominating. I get no bile-like brett or anything harsh/sharp.

Beer #6 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Perfectly clear deep copper and bronze coloured body with a bit of an amber glow and a nice peach tint when held up to a light, all with a relatively quick-dying single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of super tart berries, light oak, gueuze, a dose of wheat, coriander seed, cedar and that pure spontaneously fermented note that shows as a light vinegar but is much more than that. Light-bodied; Super strong soured and tart nose from the spontaneously fermented yeast that shows as a light berry and lemon note along with a dose of oak and complex woodsy notes with some more fragrant floral, grassy and hay flavours that end with a nice balance between sweet and sour funks. Aftertaste is deeply enjoyable and complex with the yeast front and centre and the fruit, soured grapes, berries, oak and dry flavours all trying to compete with the yeast. Overall, a super nice and enjoyable beer that shows much closer to a real belgian gueuze than even some 'real' gueuze that happen to come from the country, but are cheap products. This one is complex, deep, robust and still easy-to-drink, especially in the spring when the real flowers outside are coming out. Another great option from Hermit Thrush and one to be kept and aged, if possible, as only good things can happen with this one, after you buy a second can and drink immediately, like I did! This was the sixth beer of my 8000th celebration and was a great escalation in the quality of beers I've had as part of this celebration. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Joe Canal's in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on 06-January-2020 for US$9,99 (not cheap) sampled at my house in Washington on 20-April-2020, as Beer #6 (of 17) of the 8000th Beer Celebration!

Can shared by Jeff, thanks! Pours a clear light red with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has acidic fruits with a touch of masala and light grains underlying. Flavor has sour fruits with a bit of funk and light earthy grains backing.
