Nope, this isn’t the way. So friggin’ sweet, mixing notes of anise and soy sauce with Oreos and dark chocolate and fudge, with a barely-there carbonation allowing all the sugar to sit listlessly on the palate. Too much, man. Too much.
From backlog. (As 2022 vintage) Bottle, from Joe’s Liquor, Memphis. Black with little head. Roasted malts, Dark Chocolate, coconut, Cookie, almonds, barrel, whiskey, bourbon, sweetness.

Bourbon, dark chocolate and roast. Light almond and very light marshmallow thankfully. Black pour with decent head. Quite sweet with some booze. Black oily pour with decent head. Tap at Cottage Hill Package.

2023 release on tap at Tip Tap Room, 4/1/23. Dark burgundy. No head. Fudgey, maybe some raisin and pastry with vanilla and even a touch of mousiness. Very light on the bourbon, though it is apparent. Soft, malty, cookies, fudge, heavy cacao. Sweet, though and I wish there was more barrel or more attenuation. Adjuncts aren't too obnoxious but it's overall too sweet. Fudgey marshmallow lingering is disingenuous.

Tavour: black with beige head. Aroma is marshmelon, chocolate, milky, nuts, nut of coco. Taste is super sweet, nutry, loads of marshmallow, tons of booze. Too much.

Bottle. Pours black. Dark chocolate, marshmallow, nutty, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, macadamia, candied pineapple. Medium body. Solid.

On tap at Prairie OKC, pours jet black with almost no head. Nose is very chocolatey, with tons of dark chocolate cookies, plenty of marzipan, bourbon, and a hint of coconut. Flavour is extremely rich, with intense bourbon barrels, marzipan galore, and dark chocolate cookies. Finishes hot, marzipany, and a bit jagged. The alcohol strength is very apparent and so is the marzipan. It still works (!), but the booze and marzipan is a bit too unrefined. Good stuff overall.

Bottle shared by Lou, thanks! Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has licorice and roast with chocolate and dark grain supporting. Flavor has chocolate and light roast with a bit of licorice and dark grains.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a transient tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coconut. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is bourbon, burnt malt, chocolate, coconut, nuts and maybe marshmallow. Not dry. Bitter? Not much - but heat makes up for it. Nice drink.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours a pitch black hue with a small beige head. A huge dusty nutty nose, sweetness. Sugary at times, the nutty element is dominant, sweet hot bourbon. Very rich.
