This is one of those beers. You can call it West Coast if you like, but these beers were being brewed all over the US, including on the East Coast (by Dann amongst others), throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. At Pretty Things, we made one called Meadowlark IPA, which was a fun beer that we used to drink the crap out of every Monday night while our friend John Funke played old Rockabilly and vintage Rock n Roll vinyl records at a cool Boston/Cambridge bar called State Park. Those were the days.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Caps and Taps, London. Pours crystal clear gold with a big, frothy white head. Light to medium sweet, great piney resin character, citrus accents. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, more pine, melon, tangerine. Delicious.

Can from House of Trembling Madness. It pours clear(ish) orangey - copper with a medium foamy white head. The aroma is sweet and tangy, orange marmalade, grapefruit, gummy bears, candied peel, sticky, resin, pine and light spice. The taste is dryish, bitter, oily, sticky, resin, leafy, grassy, pine, pithy grapefruit, orange gummy bears, jelly tots, touched of spice, lick of boozy warmth with a drying and bitter linger. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Works well. If anything I want more bitterness to elevate it further. Pretty enjoyable stuff anyhow.

Can at home thanks to Colin for the hookup. A light hazed pale orange coloured pour with a lasting rocky sticky white head. Aroma is semi sweet, sticky toffee, spicy oragne, pine, hint of vanilla. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, toffee, vanilla, spicy pine, orange rind. Firm grassy orange bitterness. Palate is semi sweet, frothy carbonation, spicy finish. Good. Very well made beer.
Yes, nails the style. More of this kind of IPA again please.

Can at home, from SMOD Online, watching the England innings vs Ireland in the first ODI 30/07/20. Moderate haze on an orange to golden pour with a well presented lasting white cap. Nose is orange pith, light floral notes, raw green strawberry whisper, melon, light candied fruits. Taste comprises orange zest, melon, light minerality, trace of apricot, grapefruit twang, grass, airy malts. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation closing with balanced lightly aggressive juicy hop bitterness. Solid quaffable IPA with an old skool leaning as advertised ... drinkability is high in this juan !
