Black Impermanence (黑無常) is the gatekeeper of the underworld in Chinese mythology. The mysterious legend inspired the team to create our award-winning barrel-aged beer series.

Along with the barrel-aged imperial stout series Black Impermanence, this is a double chocolate milk stout aged in bourbon barrels. Rich, deep, complex flavor with intense chocolate and vanilla character.

Vintage 2022 but does say Double Chocolate, so I'm guessing it's this. Black, a tan head is soon less than a coat. 3+ Aroma of chocolate, roast, some smoke, vanilla, pepper. Short of syrupy, low carbonation. Bittersweet with fudgy chocolate, foil, nut paste, only hints of Bourbon (via caramel, oak & vanilla), hard working but discreet bitterness. There's a little warmth at the end. Very nice.

330ml bottle. Black with a big tan head. Aroma of very rich dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is boozy, also extremely rich with dark chocolate, almost tonka like, vanilla, strong bourbon barrel, oaky, more cocoa, caramel, chocolate again, bittersweet and boozy. Medium body. Very intense and aggressive stout.

330mL bottle at The Globe, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is unbelievably intense on the dark chocolate - wow - it's like dark chocolate fudge, with gentle bourbon in the background. Flavour is crazily intense on the dark chocolate, like drinking liquid dark chocolate fudge. The bourbon plays a back seat here to the immense, elegant dark chocolate. This is beautiful.
