95,000 bottles were produced for 2004’s Vintage, which once again employed a traditional approach, this time brewed with Goldings hops and Maris Otter malt. Distinctive cherry notes are evident, before a warming finish that mellows with age. Also limited availability in the Cask, mainly in the London area.

500ml bottle. Bottle No 29761. Pours a murky chestnut brown colour with a white foam head leaving some lacing. Aroma of malt, fruitcake, sherry. Taste is malty, sweetish, with toffee, fruitcake, raisins, dark fruits, plum and some earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry earthy warm finish. Nicely drinkable.

330ml bottle tasting alongside a 2006 @ 12th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, April 15, courtesy of Mike. Boozy fruitcake nose with liquorice, plums and leathery CAMRA sandals on the palette. Found the ’06 a little more drinkable tho.

Shared bottle (#43368) with a 2006 by it’s side on 28th April 2015 at a Shrewsbury Bottle Swap Group Meeting (five of us). Not a lot of head on the brown body, but plenty of condition left in the beer. Fruity flavour and aroma, Victoria plums being the main fruit for me. Smooth, mellow and sweeter than the 2006 version. I really enjoy these Vintage bottles from Fullers, hope to try as many as possible (I have a couple aging).

Bottled, thanks Boudicca! Vertical with 2014. Darker amber than 2014, small head. Dusted ripe fruit and caramel dominate the nose. Caramel and slight cardboard, mature ripe fruits. Some brown sugar and raisins, notes of hay. Low-medium bitterness. The hop character is all gone. Over the edge, I’m afraid.

Bottle shared at the 9th Richmond Rare & Unusual Epic Tasting, Richmond, VA, 11/30/14. Pours a hazy amber with a thin head. Poor head retention. Aroma of toffee, raisin, mild hops. The taste is toffee, earth, caramel, dark fruits. Medium bodied, low carbonation, some oxidation but held up very nicely for a decade old.
