A pleasant bitter beer with a strong roast malt flavour.

This beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Roast Barley and Hercules hops.

Rich sweet smelling stout that gives the impression it is stronger than it is.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 19/05/12. Fairly solid black with a tan head. Roasted malts on the nose with chocolate as a back drop, pinch of coffee bringing up the rear. Roasted flavour but also sweetish with chocolate. Well balanced. Medium body, decent job.

Cask in Ship & Mitre Liverpool. Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet burnt malt. Flavour is dry roast with a very dry finish

2nd rate - Cask @ JDW Inverness
Black, ruby edges, bubbly tan head, bit of lacing
Aroma - roast malts, dark malts, soft aroma 7 -> 6
Taste - bitter roasted malts, dark quite sweet caramel malts, touch of dark fruits, soft dark roast coffee, good 6 -> 7
Palate - soft carb, thinnish body, bittersweet palate - little oily but bit watery texture. Finish - quite bitter roast, coffee, fairly long lingering finish
Overall - thinnier body than normal for a stout - but this beer had a good flavour 12 -> 14 3.1 -> 3.3

Black, thin ruby edges, thin dark tan head, good lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate.
Taste of roasted malts...espresso...burnt notes....a bit harsh.
Palate - Dry...roasted malts...burnt crust...body a bit thin...soft carb....finish has lingering burnt bitterness.
It’s OK - bit thin and over dry for me.

Cask @ the Harp, Covent Garden WC2. Pours a nearly black color with ruby hints and a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocoalte and caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel flavor with sweetish chocolate hints. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocoalte finish.

Cask at GBBF, 2011. Black pour with a light tan head. Butterscotch, coffee, chocolate and a little smoke aroma. Caramel, toffee and coffee flavour. Dry finish.

Cask at GBBF, Day 4. Pours brown-black with a foamy, tan head. Dry, cocoa malt aroma with hints of lactic sugar. Medium sweet flavor, milk chocolate, some lacto, mild roast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, hints of scorched earth, ash and tobacco. Nice.

From cask. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt and liqourice. Liqourice and roasted malty flavoured. Caramelish and slight spiced. Smooth and dark roasted dark malty. Hoppy and fruity into the far finish.

cask at cask and barrel ... deep red brown ... thin tan head ... soft roast malts ... bitter light charcoal malt ... good solid roast ... decent enough cellar at bow ... black ... dry charcoal roast malt nose ... bitter dry roast ... not working ... needs the tap pour ... 3.1 as is prob get back up to 3.6 when it comes on

Cask @ Blackfriars, Glasgow. Dark. Bit mocha, bit coffee. Quite bitter taste, hint of laurel, hint of blackcurrant.
