440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, frothy, off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, blueberries and light vanilla. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, herbal, light blueberry, light vanilla palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. The promised cacao wasn’t really there. Tasty, but not a classic.

Keg draught at the Blue Boar as part of their 2022 North Yorkshire Beer Festival. Purplish black with a ring of tan head. Strong filter coffee, some blackberry, some liquorice on the nose. Hazelnut, caramel and a surfeit of liquorice in the taste. Long sweet finish with notes of molasses. Gorgeous balanced beer, doesn't run away with the sweetness like many Brew York impies. They nailed this one.

9/8/2021. Can from Hopsters, Ipswich. Sample courtesy of ITFCdan. Pours black with a small tan coloured head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, blueberries, vanilla, caramel, touch of nut and aniseed. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness, nice tart edge from the blueberry. Full bodied, smooth slick texture, soft carbonation. Cocoa dusting finish. Very nice.

On tap @ Fierce Bar, Edinburgh. Appearance - deep brown with red chinks. Reasonably proportionate head. Nose - blueberries, coffee, syrup and browned butter. Taste - cooking pancakes smell, dried fruit, some fresh berry, light booze and spice. Palate - medium bodied, creamy and lightly boozy texture. Sweet finish but in going with earlier part of the palate. Overall - very nice.
