We’ve thrown everything into our first DIPA. This soft and tropical big old boy is pretty much like drinking a glass of pineapple juice, but with all the blissful dank notes of a double IPA.

We hit the whirlpool with Sabro, Riwaka and Citra Incognito, and dry-hopped with Citra, Citra Incognito and Riwaka to really double down on the citrus. Intensely tropical, Big Frank is bursting full of lively mango and orange zest as well as that unmistakable savoury hit from Riwaka.

Saftig anslag hvor tropiske frukter (ananas, papaya, mango, lychee and you name it) og søt citrus står i kø. Havre og hvete i maltbasen gir en silkemyk munnfølelse, og vitamininnholdet er forbilledlig skjult. So smooth, so inspiring - a true winner and a velvet fist.

Can from Eltham Wines. Dusty gold pour with a white head. Pineapple, mango, papaya and sweet citrus aromas. Taste has a pina colada vibe with a splosh of mango, papaya, peach and sweet citrus. Robust fruity hoppy finish. Nice.

Can at home watching the rain, in the great British summer, 14 July 2023. The beer in the glass is orange and hazy. Smells of citrus yeast pineapple melon. Taste is citrus bitter, slight tart, almost Belgium yeast like elements, drinks very easily nice DIpa

Can from The Tasting Barn, Wokingham. Aroma is juicy, sweet. A crisp edge. Hazy orange. Frothy foamy translucent white head. Juicy - combines sweetness with sourness and a bitter streak. Some resin and booze. Medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Tasty stuff. Verging on sessionable.

10th June 2023 Can. Hazy yellowish gold beer, tiny pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, good superfine carbonation. Thinnish malts but creamy sweet. Sabro coconut, sweet, up front into a fair old nibble of hop spice. Crisp pine. Whisper of ripe pineapple. Some savoury hop on the back end, never gets skunky to me. Little floral Kiwi hop lime on the back end. Citra and also ran here. Light and semi dry finish. Nice enough and very easy to drink, a bit of a grower.

440ml can. Murky golden yellow, white head. Aroma of tropical fruits with dashes of coconut flakes. Taste is slightly sweet, very tropical, pineapple, passionfruit, coconut, and yes, a bit of a savoury Riwaka - no need for that but luckily it's not too prominent. An excellent first DIPA tbh, very impressive.
