For those long winter nights, introducing Oberon Eclipse. To reflect on the change in seasons, Oberon Eclipse is slightly stronger and darker than its namesake. However, it still remains easy-drinking and refreshing. It’s the perfect beer for cozy nights spent in good company.
Oberon Eclipse has a strong wheat backbone, balanced with a little bit of sweetness and richness accompanied by the orange and coriander. It features a slightly bitter, clean finish that is medium bodied and slightly warming.

Bottles drunk 12/25/23. Mostly clear, bronze cantaloupe. Small, off-white head at spotty cover. Citrus and clean, fruity yeast with some cracker and biscuit. Lots of fruit but fair amount of acidity. Crackery, lightly scratchy texture with brisk carbonation and decent base malt and attenuation. Maybe a bit too intensely citrusy and acidic. I see it's trying to be bigger and more assertive than the summer Oberon, but that doesn't work as well, imo.

Once again we have something good—Oberon—dragged down by the incessant need for brand extension. Eclipse resembles OG Oberon in name only; where Oberon balances any sweet notes with a firm hoppiness, Eclipse leans towards candied orange peel and wheat and clove, a disappointment for anyone looking for the balance of the original. Pass.

Aromas are citrus, malt and some other fruit. Flavors are similar to nose. A little sweet up front and a little bitter in the finish. Kind of a heavier, sweeter version of the original Oberon. And the original is better. Much better.

12 oz can from a variety pack, best by 25-Mar-2024. Pours a hazy orange amber with some small and fine particles. Citrusy aroma. Citrusy orange flavor, wheat and yeast, coriander. Pretty nice, actually.

Pour is a hazy amber with a large white head. Aroma is caramel with honey sweetness. Flavor is more caramel sweetness with a little citrus tartness on the back end. For a citrus wheat this was pretty heavy and sweet. This was nothing special.

Can thanks to Ted! Pours a hazy orange with an earthy gold hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has slightly sweet wheat with some bright orange and a bit of coriander underlying. Flavor is sweet wheat forward with some light orange and a bit of coriander in the finish.

From a can this is exactly what it says; its a wheat ale. Not only that, its a quite bitter, astringent and phenolic wheat ale. Nothin like the original oberon that I remember, which was a little more civilized than this stuff. Now mind you, I haven't had an oberon since it was taken over by lion, but I would think they didn't change the recipe, or maybe they did. Anyway this stuff is almost iced tea in color. The nose is a little metallic in nature. The first taste is quite disappointing but hey, like I said, it is a wheat ale and many wheat ales are just simply rude in the face. This backbone bitter bullshit must come from what they are calling citrus? Well, maybe citrus but think green unripe grapefruit rinds, yeow. Yea, it reminds me of some of the nasty phenolic IPA beers I get from new brewers who don't really know what they are doing. There, you have it. In the finish that straight up ass bitter thing just keeps undauntingly lasting in yer pie hole.
