Amber with a foamy, white head. Aroma of honey and latex with vague floral notes. Taste is bitter, herbal, peppery. Faint sweetness and a touch of apple around the edges. Finishes much the same with lingering pepper, but also a bit stale. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Decently chewy. Feels like an upscale industrial product.

A clear amber beer with a beige head. Aroma of caramelized malt, red malt, red fruits. Taste of strong caramelized malt, red fruits, berries, moderate bitterness.

500ml bottle. Opalescent, orange golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, grainy, malty and slightly hoppy aroma, hints of cereals, honey, honey-covered cereals, corn flakes. Taste is sweet-ish and minimally starchy, malty and plain bitter, minimally herbal hoppy, hints of honey, a touch of nettle.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Simple and monotonous, relatively hoppy - so-so.

Goldgelbes bis bernsteinfarbenes Bockbier, ziemlich hopfig-fruchtig mit beeriger und honigartiger Aromatik, nur relativ dezent würzig und malzig. Für ein Bockbier gefährlich süffig.

Bottle from a local supermarket. Looks simple but good. Beer in the glass with a nice head. Spicy malty aroma. Starts fine malty, spicy, light alcoholic. Some grasy hints as well. Some herbs. Finish well balanced, soft-malty-spicy. Quite drinkable for its strength. Not bad.

Orange bis kupferfarben, deutliche Trübung. Frucht und Honig in der Nase. Beim Trinken haben wir Malz, frische, vergorene und gekochte Früchte und Alkohol. Hat ne ganz leichte, subtile Süßstoffnote. Insgesamt aber geschmacklich schon ganz OK. Für ein Bier dieser Stärke könnte das aber alles etwas intensiver und tiefgründiger sein. Immer wenn es im Supermarkt ein neues Störtebeker-Bier gibt, greife ich zu - und (fast) immer bleibt beim Trinken die ganz große Begeisterung aus. Die Brauerei hat sehr gute Ideen für Ihre Bierkreationen - nur bei der Umsetzung hapert es. Da fehlt fast immer der aller letzte Kick (oft auch mehr als nur das). Die tollen Ideen werden ohne große Leidenschaft und mit industriellem Kalkül umgesetzt. Crew Republic, die Rügener Insel-Brauerei, ja selbst BrewDog, machen das besser - und die bekomme ich auch im Supermarkt.

Störtebeker Winter-Bock, Flasche, erst zum Frühlingsanfang aufgespürt bei Getränkefeinkost, MD. - Kupfergold, fast klar. - In der Nase üppiges getreidig-karamelliges Malz, Orangeat und milde hopfenwürzige Herbe. - Antrunk sortentypisch schwer karamelmalzig und ungewöhnlich malzaromatisch (das Etikett spricht von belgischem Spezialmalz). Feine Honigsüße, intensive süße Frucht (Orangeat, Waldbeeren) und nicht zu knappe herbale Hopfung. Milder rezent, vollmundig; deutliche Likörnote, auf Dauer etwas schnapsig. Im Abgang milde Hopfenherbe. - Interessanter heller Bock mit ausgefallener Aromatik, die mich zwar nicht restlos überzeugt aber doch einen Versuch wert ist. (4.4.2024.)
