A Smoked Imperial Breakfast Stout with coffee, chocolate and maple syrup. Smoke fills the mouth, like standing in front of an open fire on a cold morning...the coffee bursts in with dark chocolate in abundance....next comes the sweet maple syrup, rich and deep...hair of the dog never felt this good...

On keg at Grove, Huddersfield - deepest brown body, no head. Big smoky chocolate and coffee nose, liquorice, dark fruits and a sweet woodiness to the taste. Big hitter, last of the day. KO.

14/6/2025. Can from Hopsters, Ipswich. Pours black with a tan coloured head. Aroma is deep dark chocolate, roasted malts, roasted coffee, maple syrup, dark fruits. Moderate sweetness, quite heavy bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, average to soft carbonation. Long bitter roasted finish. Quite enjoyable.

Tap at Billie’s, on Friday. It grabbed my attention immediately, cause I believe smoke does have a place in places where it might not on the first glance, for instance in a pastry stout. It was but of a letdown tho, that it was fairly subdued in the beer, just like most of the adjuncts, the coffee perhaps being the exception. The beer’s fairly dry and roasty and ends on a crazy dry/tannic finish.

Keg draught at the Needle & Pin, Loughborough. Very dark brown, opaque with a small off-white head. Aroma of gentle bourbon, Coffee grounds, salted caramel, a touch of smoke. Sweet smooth taste, lots of bourbon but it isn't overpowering. Not a lot of the promised smoke but getting enough coffee and whisky to make up for it. Full body, carbonation on the soft side. An amazing beer.

Black with creamy head. Aroma and flavour have loads of caramel, maple and treacle. Bittersweet. Unfortunately not really smokey.
