The beer focuses entirely on the character of the Golden Promise malt and the clarity of flavour that Newbarns house yeast blend brings to the table. With nothing else to get in the way, there are plenty of floral honey notes and clean grassy flavours, with just the right whisper of sweetness to give the beer a full body.

Can from Beer52. Mostly clear gold with small white top, modest retention. Grain and bread aroma, sweetness, light lemon hop; fine but standard. This flows through to the flavour, very grainy, white bread, semi-sweet, light citric and grassy hop, modest but long bitterness in finish. Light to medium bodied but oddly cloying, semi-drying. Fairly standard Helles.

330ml can via Beer52: BB 1st December 2023. Poured into an old Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass at home on 22nd March 2023. Almost a clean and clear golden body, decent snow white head which sadly fades away a bit swiftly. Grainy front to the nose and taste, not much else happens really, it's all a bit bland and uninteresting to me.

Thin white head on an unclear pale golden coloured body. Malt & generic fruity aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a soft back. Malt, cereal & biscuit tastes with a dull fruity finish. Could be a can of 1664 if drunk blindfolded.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A straw coloured pour with a fast fading white head; grainy aroma; a fresh, sweetish barley taste; and a light grassy bitterness to finish.
