Can from Beer52 as part of their Pennsylvania box. This one at 5.5%. Near black/ dark brown small creamy beige head. Aroma is fairly sweet, roast, chocolate, hint of dark fruit, a light meaty earthiness. Taste again quite sweet to start, roasted malts, chocolate, raisin, blackcurrant, earthy, coffee bitterness. Medium bodied, zingy fine carbonation, drying finish. Very enjoyable porter.

Can from Beer 53 – drank at home. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a fair sized but transient tan head and good lacing. Fudge and golden syrup in the aroma, plus some hints ofroasted malts. In the mouth it is sweet with a creamy texture, but some underlying bitterness. Flavour has roast malts, toffee, cola and caramel with hints of oats and chocolate. Finish is slightly dry with treacle and parkin. This is a nicely restrained porter – very drinkable.

[12oz can from Beer52 at 5.5% ABV.] An opaque peaty brown pour with a thick caramel coloured head; toasted grain aroma with a hint of chocolate; smooth oaty body with a toasty taste; then a gentle roasted grain bitterness, and a smooth roasty finish with a touch of coffee. A rather good porter.
