330mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny dark brown head. Nose is full of charred oak, wood, moderate roast, and a very light liqueur-like character from the French oak whiskey barrels. Flavour is luxurious, with a remarkable oak barrel character, plenty of charred whiskey, luscious molasses and dark chocolate, and a very solid roasted malt base. Barrels used to perfection, ungirded by a top-notch malt bill. Oily, lush mouthfeel; wonderful complexity. Põhjala’s barrel-aged beers are usually great, but this one is a step above—phenomenally crafted.

pitch black, small smooth brown head.
aroma of glue, wood, booze, roasted malts. a bit brutal and boozy i think.
flavor is roasted malts, salt licorice, bourbon, chocolate. flavor is not really boozy as the arma was, but fairly intense. very good no nonsense non-pastry imp stout.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 26/04/2025.
Pitch black topped with a khaki head that thins to a swirl and edge work.
Nose is dark malts, dried fruit esters, spice, molasses, chocolate.
Taste comprises dark malts, charr, earthy fruits, spice, figs, chocolate, dates, toffee.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost cloaked in mellow whisky barrel.
Okay BA impy if a touch raw in places.

Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head that dissapates quickly. Smooth palate, quite light all things considered, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft rich dark malts, good dark chocolate, mild coffee. French whiskey brings mildly spicy ripe fruits, a little softer and a little fruitier than your average UK or US whiskey barrel, does that describe French Whiskey? Dunno! Seems to make this brew a little off the beaten track.

Nice beer. Base is their goto, the additional french barrels come through and give it a spiky dry sharpness and dries it out. Very good, not their best. Rating are correct. Mikkeller ams
