Smaak is zoetig, houtig/tannine, lichtjes bitter, iets fruitzuur. Medium body. Alcohol is iets warmend, maar lijkt geen 12,5%. Lange nasmaak, geroosterd, iets assig, medium bitter.

Pours black, not much head. Scent is roasty, heavy on the oak, Milder red fruits from the port wine. Taste is full, roasty, chocolate, alcohol quite high, bourbon and port shine trough mildly, chewy, mild soy, to the boozy side. Quite a bit of oak. Decent, not amazing.

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige to brown head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty up front, grains, hay, cow fodder, a bit yeasty, roasted, a little oxidized. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of alcohol, bitter, malty, pretty roasted, more alcohol, ok. Aftertaste: bitter, more roast, rather oxidized, cocoa powder, a little sweet, lots of alcohol, bitter and dry finish, a touch of bourbon and vanilla but not a lot. Decent stuff, but not great.

Can from Beer Republic, consumed at the exceptional Douneside House, Aberdeenshire. It pours jet black with a small deep tan head. The aroma is heady notes of rich fruit jam, bramble, blueberry muffin, port wine, fruit compote, raisin, cherry, Eccles cake, vanilla, spicy rye whisky, toffee, tunnocks teacakes and vanilla fudge. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, charred oak, vanilla, toffee, fudge, depth of juicy berry, bramble, blueberry, cherry, dried fruits, fruit cake, spicy rye whisky, jammy, victoria sponge cake, toasty coconut, jammy wagon wheel, dark chocolate bounty, warming booze, Manhattan vibes and peppery spice with a roasty finish. Fulsome body and average carbonation. Lovely depth of flavour and rich barrel character. A classy BA number.
