Imperial Stout aged in Angel’s Envy Bourbon Barrels then Finished in Ruby Port Wine Barrels
Introducing the newest addition to the Bourbon County family: our first-ever “Cask Finish” stout. Inspired by the innovation of our friends at Angel’s Envy, we embarked on a journey to further develop the complexity of barrel-aged stout by introducing never-before-used finishing barrels. The beer starts in freshly emptied barrels that once held Angel’s Envy Kentucky straight bourbon. After aging in those for a year, the beer was transferred to a second set of Ruby Port wine barrels where it patiently matured for another year. By replicating Angel Envy's finishing process, we refined and amplified the flavors of cherry, spice, and cocoa within this aged stout. Bourbon County Angel’s Envy Cask Finish Stout is a testament to our legacy as the originators of bourbon barrel-aged stout.

Bottle thanks to Stuu's Chicago adventure.
Appearance - opaque brown to black with a small but attractive beige finish.
Nose - dark chocolate, figs and raisins, prunes in booze.
Taste - raisins, prunes, chocolate and very boozy.
Palate - full bodied, sweet and boozy. In fact, a hot booze burn at the back.
Overall - good, if a little unbalanced.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has a wonderful, lightly, smoky bourbon barrel character, toasted malt, port wine, and a touch of char. Flavour has a nice charred, smoky, whiskey barrels, moderate toasted malt, and dry molasses. Smoky, charred barrel, transitioning to the port wine, which gives it a sweet, vinous finish. Wonderful.

Bardzo treściwe, mocne, czuć świeżą beczkę po destylacie, lekko ścigające i wysuszające, kakao, wanilia, melanoidynowe. Barwa czarna, mętne, piana redukuje się do krążka, brakuje lacingu. Goryczka niska, czekoladowa. Mega pełne i gładkie, chce się wziąć kolejny łyk, czuć lekką alkoholowość, jest bardzo dobre

I liked this. Some alcohol in the aroma and hot on the palate. Sweet, tannins and red wine flavors. Quite good.

Split 2 ways with Brian. Aroma is jammy port wine, dark fruit, bourbon. Mouthfeel is lovely, rich, decadent, loads of flavors as you sip it. ABV is well hidden. Amazing beer.

22 oz bottle. Aroma is lightly jammy red grape, soft oak, chocolate. Red grape is subtle but lasts throughout the sip. Bourbon is a mild warming after the swallow. Texture is velvet smooth. Wouldn’t guess it was 15.5%. Awesome!
