Rye Barrel Edition is a younger brother of The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. While initial version mixed Bière de Garde with wine-like notes, this time it's time to let rye barrel shine.
Experience: Beige foam covers the bright golden beer. Head will disappear quickly into a thin layer that keeps lacing the glass.
In the aroma vanilla from the rye barrel gives the central theme. There is the scent of red berries and, of course, rye whiskey itself.
First sip. Light beer lets the rye barrel shine. Sweet vanilla from rye barrels turns quickly into the mix of slight bitterness from oak tannins and sourness from wheat.
Aftertaste has a nice warming effect like a sip of good rye. Oak barrel is working together with light-colored but strong beer, to keep this warming sensation lingering forever.

Bottle. Amber colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is toffee, some spruce, rye and mild herbal and a bit alcohol tones to it. Flavour is toffee, some rye, spices, herbs, alcohol and mild earthy elements to it.

Amber colour, smallish beige head. Toffee and rye in the nose with touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Toffeish, malty, hoppy, ryeish, spicey and with alcohol in the flavour. Pleasant.

ABV: 9.5%. Clear medium amber orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, dried fruit, rich, wood, oak, yeast. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a long duration, fruity, dried frut, woody, oak, rich. Body is medium, texture is oily - sticky - thick, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming. [20210320]

Bottle with the RateBeer, München tasting group, courtesy of Dave, cheers Dave! We Wednesday 1st July 2020. Pours hazy light amber with a slim white head. Slight booziness on the nose, soft carbonation, dry, almost furry like mouthfeel. Ok.

Bottle. Dark red amber with a medium, lasting head. Woody caramel nose with a bit of a vegetal note. Very strange plant-stem taste, some rye-like flavor and tannic oaky?? notes, but something tastes a bit off. Unpleasant bitter aftertaste.

Thanks TNG. Hazy amber. Aroma is yeasty grape and raisin lots of cake dough. Taste is sweet vegetal squeaky greenish harsh hops. A little unbalanced. But quite the finish of raisin and cake. Lacks some base. Ok.
