The Moulins d'Ascq blonde is the oldest of the family, created in 1999. Fine creamy foam, beautiful golden color, discreet bitterness, length in the mouth, refreshing. The blonde is the perfect balance. We always come back to it.

Bottled. A hazy light golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, citrus, and straw, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Bottle, 6.2%. Hazy yellow colour. Small stable white head. OK malty flavour, a little paper, but not bad. Low to medium bitterness, slightly watery. OK mouthfeel, though.

Found the two Moulin d’Ascq beers in a Casino in Eze. Drunk on the bus back to Andora. I only needed to loosen the cork’s cage a little for it to almost blow a hole in the ceiling of the bus. A bit of a gusher too. Golden colour. A dusty yet fresh sweet orangey/appley nose. The taste is odd, malty, dry and ashy. Carroty and herbal. Very light orangey notes. Just odd.

11/10 0.75 l corked bottle from a Casino in Eze. Opened with a big pop and poured murky pale yellow body with big head of course. Yeasty cinnamon, spicy and slightly lemony aroma. Sweet flavor, yeasty vanilla and banana, some light fruits from its malts and spicy. Relatively thin in body, but for a Biere de Garde is fuller. Longer sweetish finish, yeasty again more than malty. Fine one, I liked it.

75cl bottle from Franglais, Calais. Cloudy gold with thick white head. Nice herby blonde, yeasty, fine in mouth, lemon, herb hop. I liked it. Did what a biere de garde is supposed to.

Bottled. Hazy blonde. Fruity deep papery maltiness. Soft and rounded with salty hoppy finish, but this beer is all about discrete malt flavours.

Dark golden colour; medium-thick white head, unstable. Nose gives some alcohol, cookies, malt. After a short while, hops kick in. Beautiful hops' flavour. There is grain underneath, and some sugar as well, but fine hops dominate. Medium-bodied, refreshing. Aftertaste: the hops bade adieu. I like this. This is a simple, straightforward beer, with no pretention but its biological purity. It isn't even unilateral as the balance, however in favour of the hops, is there. GOOD.
