Dullish pale brown. Aroma is chewy. Lots of rye and that’s the palate, too. It’s okay, the rye is good but the base comes across like a lot of Reubens base, simplistic.

Waxed capped bomber - 2024 edition - from Tavour. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head that attempted a Guinness. Aroma of rye and malt. Full bodied. Somewhat sweet/malty and heat/rye for bitterness. Effect of a good Winter Warmer. Excellent flavor.

Aromas are dark malt, maybe some wheat and light paper. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, sweet upfront and a little more bitter in the finish but still sweet. Add in some caramel and a hint of fudge. Some alcohol warmth in the finish. Very smooth. 2023.

Waxed, capped bomber from Tavour. Pours clear, but very dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of bourbon, rye spice and dark toffeeish malt. Full bodied. Flavor is bourbon, rye spice, heat with dark caramel support. Not dry. Heat seems to replace bitter. Very nice drink.

My 7,300th rating. 500 ml waxed and capped bottle. 2022 vintage. 13.7% ABV. Nearly opaque dark brown pour. Creamy finger-high beige head settles to a bubbly ring. Earthy, roasty malt aroma hints at oak and bourbon. Robust and bittersweet upfront. Black currants, vanilla, red wine tannins, cocoa, rye spice, toffee, figs, whiskey and wood. Wonderfully complex and incredibly smooth.

2020 bottle. Pours a clear, dark, brown color, with a big, foamy, tan head. The aroma is vanilla, cinnamon, apple, lovely toasted oak, peach, and light toast. Very sweet and malty, with a mild bitterness and a bit boozy. Heavy, lively, and chewy. Quality, enjoyable, and complex.

Red waxed bomber pours with a murky mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a quick whiff of caramel like reduced sugars before a fair load of booze and bourbon take over with hints of oak and booze nuanced vanilla. The taste delivers a pleasing wedge of kettle caramelization and various lightly roasted malts flowing into the barrel treatment notes. I get a modest booze burn as the bourbon bourbon starts to take hold. As it warms the caramel flows further into the finish to meet up with a faint sense of sweet vanilla. This is a great boozy sipper.
