Serving by Shiga Kogen at MBCT... Harvest IPA 6% Gold with a giant soapy head of foam. Nice woodsy hop piney bouquet, soft medium body and crisp flavor very easy sipping.

Tap at Craft Beer Market Jimbocho as Shiga Kogen Harvest Brew IPA. Amber orange colour, small golden bubbly head. Aroma fruit and bitterness, hops, bit of pineapple maybe. Usual grapefruit. Quite a bit of spicy maltiness. Taste, satisfying bitterness, citrus elements, grapefruit again. Just a touch of sweetness from malt. Not bad at all.

Draught @ Craftheads, Tokyo. Pours orange with a smooth head. Aroma of fresh grassy hops, herbal notes, pine, resin and citrus. Taste is smooth, fresh hoppy and grassy with some pine, resin and citrus. Finish is sweetish, fresh hoppy and citrusy with some pine and resin, hints of caramely malts. Nice.

Pours coppery orange, just a hint of foam. Aroma is mainly herbal, with some fresh resiny feel to it. Taste is totally about displaying wet hops. Not really about balance nor anything else, just plain and straightforward focus on making the fresh hops shine. They do shine, body is heavy and herbal, lots of resins rising viscosity levels and long and lingering bitterness reminding you of this beer even after it’s gone. Packs only 6% of alcohol but feels much more serious than that.

2015 Harvest Brew version made with Shiga’s own hops. Pours a clear orange gold with a small white head that lasts throughout. Good citrus fruit nose with some orange and light pine. Taste is really bright citrus with good crisp and dry finish. Some sweetness on the palate with a bit of stickiness. Very good IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shiga Kogen IPA Harvest Brew on 14 Sep 2015 at 09:06 - Score: 7

Bottle from Yamaoka, 2008. Deep amber to copper color, darker than expected, thin lacy head. Amber malt aroma, caramel, earth, great hops, slightly fruity. Rich, malty flavor, good sweetness, earthy caramel, a hint of chocolate. Very rich and flavorful with big hops as well, with pine and citrus. Close to an amber. Rather thick, smooth palate, but good. A flavorful and satisfying drink, more of an amber than a typical IPA, but with fragrant and bitter IPA-style hops.
