Pour is an almost black with a small bone white head. Aroma is a nice toasted, ashy malt. Flavor is more burnt malt with some bitter bakers chocolate and a dry but bitter finish. Pretty good example of the style.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is licorice, dark fruit, toasted malt. Slick body, similar flavors to nose, light dry finish, very good.

12 oz. Aroma has notes of bread, marshmallow--not all that aromatic really. Pours dark brown with a one finger bone-white head that falls into a ring immediately. Taste is sweet and roasty, finishing dry, with bready, chocolaty flavors. Tasty.

12 oz bottle purchased at KC Bier Company in Kansas City, Missouri. This was Day #11 of the 2020 KC Bier Advent Calendar. The pour is clear black, brown with ruby highlights and a ½ inch light tan head that falls quickly. The aroma is roast, char, pine and dry earthiness. The taste is roast, coffee, dark chocolate, the earthiness and pine bitterness to the crisp finish. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation, and the dry roast softly bitter finish. Well made Schwarz, tasty stuff.
