Caramel malt and hay aroma. Hazy amber with large tan head. Moderately sweet caramel malt, and mildly bitter/astringent fresh hay flavor. Good body.

Keg at CBC Clerkenwell. I thought this one was a bit shabby. Some tangy berries, dry bread, mild leafy bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Further tangy fruits on the finish. Seems a bit out of shape.

Craft Clerkenwell. Keg. Hazy amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Sweet malts with a light generic fruitisness. Thin malt cream. Fruits turn tangy. Light finish.

Growler shared by Kyle, thanks! Poured a clear orange amber with a white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma had notes of sweet grain and bread with a bit of spice to round it off. Flavor was similar with sweet grain and cereal as the main notes and a bit of spice to make the beer interesting. Nice and creamy on the tongue.

High clarity in this tangerine-amber colored beer with just the barest hint of glassy chill-haze. Bubbles rising steadily create a small, whispy, off-white head that shows moderate retention and strong lacing.
Vanilla-tinged spongecake belies what I would expect a sour and sweet aroma from the munich and vienna malts. Barely any graininess, just a light touch of raw barley, hint of buttercream, a touch of toffee flavored iced cream and plentiful, earthy, spicy hops that provide wonderful crispness on the end. It seems that the malt is well attenuated, maybe overly so, from the nose, as it dosent even make it to the finish, leaving a bit of watery, mineral-like notes in place. Fortunately, the hops, as well as the lager yeast delivers the crisp bite that I always look for in this style. Medium strength of aroma, no flaws. But the malt needs to be severely more represented here. This is more just like a medium dark helles.
Watery is the flavor, with only light husky grains at the beginning followed by a trace of toffee stickiness that is completely cut by green, leafy, herbal hops zestiness. Crisp yeast sits on the end, and with the moderate amount of zesty carbonation, the beer certainly finishes light, dry and very easy to drink. But with further sips, as much as the hops seem enjoyable and not overdone, the lack of malt complexity is starkly apparent. Slight fruitiness not even bordering on sourness, from the munich malt, with only remnants of vienna malt sweetness (toffee). It’s got all of the right ingredients, just not enough/in the right proportions. Still drinkable though, and if you forgive the malt shortcomings, it goes down quickly and cleanly as a slightly amped up, German pale lager.
