This year’s Vintage Ale is the 21st edition of our limited edition brew and, like any great 21st, we’ve celebrated in style. The 2017 recipe has been created by our new Head Brewer, Georgina Young, and, in the spirit of all things new, uses a malt and hop combination never seen before in a Fuller’s beer.
The Denali hop has a big, inviting aroma that imparts pineapple, citrus and pine notes – perfect for bringing a tropical touch to the Vintage Ale series. It’s been used here both late in the boil and for dry hopping, dovetailing with classic British hop varieties Target and Goldings.
We’ve also used a new malting barley this year – a British variety called Laureate. New varieties don’t come along very often, so we thought it fitting to use one this year alongside our new American hop.
As with every Vintage Ale, it’s a special beer inside and out, perfect as a gift or to add to your collection.

Bottle: Hazy, orangey coloured, medium-sized and pretty stable off-white head, moderate - still complex - nose of dried fruits and/or raisins with a touch of Miami, toasted malt and herbal hops, supported by some booze; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, surely full bodied, but not very soft; lingering and drier hoppy, vinous and caramelly finish. Reliable and solid Fuller's quality...

Flaske nr. 065909.

Bottle picked up from Waitrose, Headington, Oxford Tesco and consumed at home Thursday 20th December 2018. Pours wonderful ruby colour, superb clarity, looks brilliant, there is a fast disappearing, off white head atop. The usual warming toffee and slight stickiness is there but it's tempered a touch by the hops, thick in the mouth, a bitterness builds but the malt keeps it in check. Good, very good, I never tried this when it first came out but I regardless I really feel that a year has likely softened any heat and rough edges. Good ageing potential methinks. Bottled 500ml (Alko web, #23358)
Amber colour, small steady beige hear. Toffee, malts in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Toffee, chewy malts, light alcohol. Feels quite aged and simple. Hmmm...

0.5l bottle. Clean orange/ruby body with a beige head. Surprisingly citrusy hop aroma comes first, then some toast, caramel, biscuit, booze and butter. Taste of orange zest, toast, booze, biscuit, caramel and a bit of pine. The finish is mostly floral hoppy. Great beer.

Prost!
