It's always a pleasure to welcome our neighbours from Cyclic Beer Farm down to Garage HQ. Their take on elegant, tart, mixed fermentation ales is a thing of beauty so we wanted to use some of that elegance in creating a kettle sour beer that steals from that playbook. This one was all about delicately balancing ingredients to bring complexity to an easy drinking sour beer. Careful use of hibiscus, orange blossom water, vanilla and cinnamon result in a beer with a beautiful red hue that brings memories of Mexican agua de Jamaica and cranberry sauce that is paired with Christmas dinner. A dry finish with a slight rounding sweetness from the vanilla make for a very drinkable sour ale.

TCBW2024. Deep ruby colour with a mediumsized off-white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is raspberries, some cinnamon, mild zest and hibiscus to it. Flavour is some berries, mild tartness, cinnamon, zest and mild herbal and spicy tones to it.

Can, 6.0%. Perfumy or rather soapy aroma of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry - even though no berries have been added, apparently. Beautiful deep reed colour. Semi-stable pink head. The flavour is slightly acidic with soapy berry notes like the aroma. Not dry all the way through, but the finish reminds me of Berliner Weisse.
