15 December 2018. Black Beer Fest, Ieper. Cheers to Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Hazy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, dark beige head; some lacing. Intense aroma of Speyside whisky, BenRiach perhaps, peat, pinch of salt, oak, vanilla, candied plum, raisin, ripe pear, some (candied) banana, blackcurrant. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, lots of fruit, plum, pear & banana, a bit estery, some raisin, sourish accent; light herbal bitter too, tea-like, note of cinnamon, woody vanilla, whisky and the slightest pinch of salt. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering candied fruit, banana, wood, pronounced & warming whisky alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very thick & pronounced brew, almost overdone, a real sipper.

Solid and powerful beer. Fine complexity. Layer after layer when it got warmer. Off course a bit sweet, but absolutely within limits. Roast, chocolate, toffee, oak and fruity stuff. Boozy.

Draft at Borefts 2018. Aroma of bourbon vanilla, chocolate, malt and some booze. Taste has rich caramel fudge, chocolate, bourbon vanilla, subtle smoke, oak and red fruit. Soft mouthfeel and very balanced. A really amazing beer.

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival, Day 1. Dark brown to black color, small beige head. Smell and taste malts, some roast, liquor sweet and some bitter. Indeed quite balanced but still heavy. Slow sipper but pleasant.

Borefts X. I'm ten for ten! Day 1. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth soft palate, slighty viscous, decent fine carbonation. Smooth rich dark malts, little dark chocolate. Good bourbon, fruity. Modest spice. Smooth finish, nice bourbon linger. Yeah - goes down easy for it's huge abv. Is there a better festival in the world for Icebocks? Doubt it!
