Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy golden orange. Not much carbonation from the looks of it. Nose - wood, stewed apple with a hint of funky wild yeast. Taste - interesting tart cherry stone followed by fresh ripe apple. Palate - medium bodied, tangy middle and a bittersweet finish. Fresh acidity with tannins on the finish. Overall - good, and fairly complex.

500ml bottle, as Ashton Bitter Cider, Batch D15 at 6.7%, from Fram Ferment, Framwellgate Moor, Durham. Orangey gold colour, white foam head that dissipates away and aroma of funky, tangy apple. Taste is tart tangy apple, funky barnyard, mucky hints, with lots of earthy bitter astringency and drying tannin. Medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, very dry bitter tannic finish. Nicely sippable.

0.5L bottle (from Siidrimaja). Pours amber with whiteish head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is dry, apples, sourness. Flavor is dry, very noticeable maneur, apples, somewhat acidic, tannins. Finish is very-very dry. No sign of alcohol, feels even watery. Overall: well, this is really dry,

Bottle from Middle Farm Cider Centre. It pours clear deep gold with a touch of fizz. The nose is earthy, bitter - sweet, red apple skin, must, candied apple and a touch of farmyard. The taste is crisp, quite drying, good deal of astringency, wood, apple skin, some alcohol heat, touch of white wine, dull lemon and dried leaves with a lingering dry, astringent finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Crazy dry. I can see why they say this is usually used for blending purposes only! Perhaps a step too far...

50cl bottle @ home. Clear applejuice orange - golden color, medium sized fizzy off-white head that diminishes almost instantly. Both aroma and taste have some sort of brett influence, sourish apple peel, barnyard, some fruitpeel sour-bitter. Very dry finish. Not one of my favorite ciders.
